A new federal tax law will affect a great many refunds filed in early 2017. The IRS will hold refunds that include the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) until February 15. This means that anyone claiming the EITC or the ACTC will not get their refund until or after February 15. This new law is part of the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015 (PATH Act), which has been responsible for several changes in the tax law.
